High Sheriff of Gloucestershire visits Headspace and opens new Unit 7
We were delighted to welcome Julie Kent, High Sheriff of Gloucestershire, to Headspace for a special visit, during which she officially opened our new Unit 7 and met members of the team.
As part of her role, Julie is visiting facilities across the county that support children and young people who are struggling within a school setting. Reflecting on her visit to Headspace, she said:
*“I have travelled across the county from Bristol in South Gloucestershire to the North Cotswolds as High Sheriff visiting facilities for children and young people who are struggling in a school setting and are either managing a few hours in school or not attending school.
Yesterday I visited Headspace, which is a mental health charity based in Bourton-on-the-Water, Cotswolds, that helps young people aged 11–19 with their mental health problems.
They are one of few alternative provision agencies in the North Cotswolds and passionately work to support young people on a one-to-one basis or in group wellbeing sessions.”*
The opening of Unit 7 marks an exciting milestone for Headspace, enabling us to expand our support for young people who need flexible, compassionate and early intervention mental health provision.
We are very grateful to Julie for taking the time to visit Headspace and for highlighting the vital role that alternative provision and community-based mental health services play in supporting young people to thrive.
Julie Kent is greeted by Headspace Trustee Gareth Davies
