Community Mentoring launches
We’re thrilled to celebrate a major milestone in Headspace’s journey: our very first group of community volunteer mentors has completed their training and is now ready to be matched with young people across the North Cotswolds.
Over the past few months, these dedicated volunteers have taken part in a comprehensive training programme, designed to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to support young people facing a wide range of challenges. From building trust and active listening to safeguarding and understanding adolescent mental health, the programme has laid a strong foundation for impactful, one-to-one mentoring.
This is a hugely exciting step for Headspace. Our mentoring programme was developed in response to the urgent need for early intervention and consistent support for young people in our community. With no similar scheme currently operating in the North Cotswolds, our trained volunteer mentors will play a vital role in filling this gap—offering weekly sessions of encouragement, guidance, and a listening ear to those who need it most.
CEO Paul Heming said:
“This group of volunteers embodies the spirit of our community—compassionate, committed, and driven to make a real difference in young lives. We’re incredibly proud of them and grateful for their time, energy, and belief in the power of mentoring.”
We’re now working closely with local schools, families, and youth services to begin matching mentors with young people who will benefit from this support. With the first mentoring relationships set to begin this summer, we’re looking forward to seeing the impact of these connections unfold.
To our first cohort: thank you. You’re the pioneers of something powerful, and we can’t wait to walk this journey with you.
